Training/Building a floor plan

How do I move a label off an object?

Select the object and pick a spot under Label position on the right-hand panel, or drag the small grip at the end of the label. A thin line keeps the label connected to its object, and it stays put when the object is moved or turned.

A table number belongs on the table. A label like Lectern — wireless mic on a two-foot podium covers the very thing it names. You can move any label off its object, and a thin line keeps the two connected.

Put it in one click

  1. Click the object.
  2. On the right-hand panel, under Label position, pick a spot: above, below, left, right, or back on the object.

The spots are just clear of the object and its chairs, measured as you see the page, so above means above even when the object is turned.

Or drag it exactly where you want it

With the object selected, a small round grip sits at the end of its label. Drag the grip and the label follows. It snaps to the same spots on the way past. Hold Option (Alt on Windows) to place it anywhere.

The table itself still moves the way it always did: drag the object, not the grip.

A moved label stays with its object. Move the object and the label comes with it. Turn the object, or a whole group, and the label keeps its place relative to it, so a label in front of the stage stays in front. Double-click the grip, or choose Put it back on the object, to return it.

Everywhere the plan goes

Labels sit in the same place on the share link, the print sheet and every export as they do on your screen. That includes table numbers inside a seating block: a number you move stays put when you change the block's rows or spacing.

For notes that do not belong on the drawing at all, use setup notes.
